  • Recently, the first award ceremony of "CarbonX Program" was held in Shenzhen, which is the first 100 million level funding program initiated by the Tencent of a technology company in CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) field. Since the program was launched in March of this year, it has received widespread attention and positive response from the society, and the organizing committee has received more than 300 applications of projects. The project "ethylene glycol Transformative Carbon Reduction Production Technology" won the award in the "CarbonX Lab" Pilot Support Track and was selected as the first round in the excellent project list of "CarbonX Program", which was led by researcher Wang Yue of our C1 Chemistry & Technology Team, with deeply participation of associate researchers Wang Meiyan and Lv Jing, as well as cooperation with the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  • One carbon chemical research group Zhang Sheng, Wang Yue, Huang Shouying, Li Zhuoshi teachers led doctoral students Han Xiaoyu, Zheng Ying, Feng Yi to participate in the conference. The four teachers shared the recent research progress and achievements of the research group on electrochemical conversion of CO2, copper oxalate hydrogenation catalyst, carbonyl synthesis catalyst development and synthesis gas to low carbon alcohol in the catalytic and reaction engineering and green chemical manufacturing sub-sessions respectively. Doctoral students Han Xiaoyu, Zheng Ying and Feng Yi were successfully selected to the Youbo Forum and gave oral presentations and wall post presentations. They reported their work on copper based CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, single atom catalyzed hydroformylation and rhodium-bisphosphine complex catalyzed hydroformylation of formaldehyde. Ms. Han Xiaoyu won the best poster award of the seminar.

  • Recently, the paper entitled "Quantitative Ligand Effect and Mechanism Insight of Rh-biphosphine Complexes in Hydroformylation of Formaldehyde" was published in Journal of Catalysis. The first author of the paper is Feng Yi, a PhD student in 2019, and the corresponding authors are Associate Researcher Wang Meiyan and Professor Ma Xinbin. In this paper, a series of efficient rhodium-biphosphine complexes catalyzed formaldehyde hydroformylation systems were developed for the first time, and the influence of ligand properties on the reaction path was understood by DFT theory.

  • Recently, our research team published a research paper entitled "Electrosynthesis of ethylene glycol from C1 feedstocks in a flow electrolyzer" in Nature Communications. The first author of the paper is Rong Xia, a PhD student of 2017, and the corresponding authors are Prof. Xinbin Ma, Feng Jiao and Yuanyue Liu. A technique for producing ethylene glycol from methanol is reported in the paper. C-C coupling may occur between two CH2OH, and the desorption of CH2OH plays an important role in the formation of ethylene glycol and is a key step in determining the selectivity of ethylene glycol.
